- Client Profile
- Client who wants a cool blonde but with luminosity and softness rather than a hard ash edge. Often describes goal as "icy but not harsh," "cool but glowing," or "like a pearl." Frequently the client who tried a pure ash blonde previously and found it too flat or grey.
- Hair History
- One to three prior bleach services. May have had a previous ash toner she found "too grey." Hair at Level 9–10 canvas. Elasticity test passes. Some cumulative porosity from bleaching but within acceptable range — State 2.
- Hair Diagnosis
- Canvas Level 9–10 with pale yellow to almost-white tone. Cuticle state 2. The violet dimension added by pearl toners requires a slightly lighter canvas than pure ash — the violet pigment reads purple on a yellow-gold canvas, not pearl.

- Timing
- 15–20 minutes. Check at 15 minutes — pearl toners can over-deposit to an unwanted violet cast if left too long. Open air.

- Zero lift. Pure deposit.

- Why It Works
- The 10/1 (Ash Pearl at Level 10) delivers a cool base without the blue-green concentration of a standard 9/1 ash. The 10/2 violet pearl adds the luminous dimension — violet reflects light differently from blue-ash, creating a bright, opalescent quality. The 0/22 violet intensifier amplifies this without adding too much pigment mass. The combination creates a cool-luminous result that is fundamentally different from the flatter quality of a pure ash. - Common Mistakes
- (1) Using on a Level 9 canvas that is yellow-gold rather than pale yellow — the violet dimension reads purple-drab rather than pearl. SOLUTION: ensure canvas is pale yellow (Level 9.5 or above). (2) Over-processing beyond 20 minutes — the violet dimension becomes dominant. SOLUTION: strict timing, check at 15 minutes. [S2]
- Alternatives
- BL-C-001 (Smoky Ash) for a harder ash without the pearl dimension. BL-S-001 (Soft Silver) if the client wants to move into silver. BL-C-004 (Icy Cool) if canvas is Level 10.
- Maintenance
- Toner refresh every 4–5 weeks. Home: violet-pigmented shampoo (not blue). Bond maintenance. UV protection essential — violet pigments are particularly UV-sensitive.
