DEMO — REQUIRES DINA REVIEW
This formula entry is part of the DCI demo library and has not yet been formally reviewed and approved by Dina Laurent. Do not use for clinical application without independent professional assessment.
Client & Diagnosis
- Client Profile
- Client committed to the lightest, most luminous blonde result possible — platinum with a soft violet-pearl dimension. Describes goal as "pearl platinum," "luminous platinum," or "white but glowing." This is the most aspirational formula in the blonde library.
- Hair History
- Full bleach history to Level 10 — no exceptions. Bond support throughout. Minimum two bleach sessions from most starting points. Hair must be at state 2 or better — state 3 is a contraindication.
- Hair Diagnosis
- Canvas Level 10 minimum — pale yellow to white-yellow, fully uniform. Any residual orange or gold will produce a warm cast. Cuticle state 2. Elasticity test critical.
- Current Level
- Level 10 — perfect, uniform canvas
- Target Level
- Level 10 Pearl Platinum — luminous platinum with soft violet dimension, glowing not stark
The Formula
- Formula
- 10g 10/1 (Extra Light Ash) + 10g 10/2 (Extra Light Violet Pearl) + 5g 0/22 (Violet Intensifier) + 15g 10/0 (Natural Extra Light) + 60ml developer
- Mixing Ratio
- 40g product : 60ml developer (1:1.5)
- Developer
- 1.5% / 5 Vol only. Never increase developer on Level 10 hair.
- Timing
- 10–15 minutes MAXIMUM. Check at 10 minutes. On highly porous hair (state 3): do not apply — postpone.
- Expected Lift
- Zero. Pure tone deposit only.
Intelligence Layer
- Why It Works
- Pearl platinum is built on a deliberate balance between ash-cool (/1), violet-pearl (/2), and natural (/0) — the natural is the dominant component (15g), which is counter-intuitive for a platinum formula but essential. At Level 10, there is almost no pigment remaining in the cortex. The toner does not need to neutralize warmth — it adds dimension to near-white hair. The /2 violet pearl adds the opalescent dimension that separates this result from a flat cool platinum. [S2]
- Common Mistakes
- (1) Applying to any canvas below Level 10 — the violet component reads purple against residual yellow. Canvas must be Level 10. (2) Processing beyond 15 minutes — on Level 10 highly porous hair, over-toning with this formula produces a visible violet cast.
- Alternatives
- BL-C-004 (Icy Cool Blonde) for a more neutral platinum without the violet dimension. BL-S-001 (Soft Silver) if the canvas is Level 9.
- Maintenance
- The highest-maintenance entry in this library. Toner refresh every 3–4 weeks. Home care non-negotiable: violet/purple shampoo 1–2× per week; bond maintenance 3× per week; protein treatment monthly.
AI & Case Layer
- AI Decision Logic
- IF canvas = Level 10 AND elasticity = state 2 AND target = pearl platinum THEN route to BL-S-003. IF elasticity = state 3 THEN STOP: do not apply. IF canvas = Level 9 THEN redirect to BL-S-001.
- Similar Cases
- BL-C-004 (Icy Cool — less pearl dimension), BL-S-001 (Soft Silver — Level 9 version)
This is a recommendation. Professional assessment and judgment are required before application. Canvas level, structural condition, and chemical history must be assessed physically at the chair.
